about me

about me

Vivian has a Bachelor of Design from York U / Sheridan College Joint Program in Design. She also has a strong affinity for black and white stripes, medical paraphernalia, and anthropomorphic food.

FYI

  • I visited Antarctica in 2008 and rubbed shoulders with penguins and whales.
  • Hear about those Rats Feasting at Dumpling House? I am responsible for the photo seen in the National Post, Toronto Star, Global TV, and others.
  • I cut my own hair because a) I’m cheap, b) I suck at small talk and c) I don’t care what the back of my head looks like.
  • I am currently trying to teach myself to read/write chinese with a conversational Cantonese book and internet help.
  • I read a lot of sci-fi / speculative fiction, comics / manga, and... failblog.
  • In university I once "modeled" with a fake gun for book covers (brace yourself): Yowza and not my legs?.
  • In the past 4 years I have travelled to: China, Korea, Japan, Central America, South America, throughout the US and Canada. Europe is likely next.

Professional Goals

At 13 years old, I designed and coded my first website: a tribute to my then favourite band. I like to think that I have grown a lot since 1996. This current portfolio site is my first real stab at ‘proper programming’. I am fascinated by the mental challenge that web development brings; it is likely the perfect counterbalance to my creative talents. In addition to further developing my design sensibilities, I hope to eventually grow into a capable and confident front-end developer. I want to tweak to pixel perfection without bugging others to “move that over 3px.”
